As the winner, Helena's mask design with a parang batik emblazoned the livery (exterior design as identity) of the Boeing B737-800NG aircraft with the PK-GFK registration number which will be used on domestic routes. This achievement is proof that the quality of UPH DKV students and recognized by the aviation industry as Garuda Indonesia class.

"Initially I learned about this competition through Garuda Airlines social media, that Garuda Airlines is holding a competition to call the movement 'Come on wear masks'. Starting from the desire to work as a child of the nation, as well as to dare to try new things, I am proud to be a champion. Besides being the winner, participating in this competition is also very meaningful because I can participate in the “Let's Wear Masks” campaign. Through this design, I can contribute positively to the flight of pride for the Indonesian people and for the community,” explained Helena.

Helena explained that the uniqueness of this design is in terms of the philosophy of selecting parang batik with the theme "Flying High and Staying Protected".

"I chose batik because I wanted to preserve Indonesian culture. Especially Batik Parang which means never giving up. Just like Garuda Indonesia, which will continue to fly high like the spirit that continues to burn even in a pandemic. The color chosen is in accordance with the Garuda Indonesia color philosophy, namely blue which gives the impression of a sense of security and confidence. The typeface (character design or letter design) is used to show a fun, contemporary, and playful side,” explained Helena.

According to Helena, the biggest challenge of this competition is when it has to align its design concept with the goals and commitments of Garuda Airlines. Then how should she adjust the mask design on the "nose" of the plane by considering the aesthetic side. In addition, this competition, which is open to the public, makes Helena having to compete with participants from all over Indonesia who have various backgrounds and equally good creativity.

In order to create a design that is right and in accordance with Garuda Indonesia's commitment, Helena applies the experience and knowledge she has gained at UPH DKV. According to her, UPH DKV has always given her the opportunity and encouragement to continue learning, developing herself, and exploring in design, which is useful in this competition. Helena also applied basic design concepts as well as form content and context that she had learned in UPH DKV.

Responding to this achievement Dr. Lala Palupi Santyaputri, S.Sn., M.Sc., Head of the UPH DKV Study Program expressed her pride. According to her, this achievement is also a proof of the implementation of the enthusiasm of the UPH DKV study program.
