Post Image In September when we introduced Karawaci Presbyterian Church through this newsletter we said that our focus is especially on the Bible as the Word of God and our guiding theme is “The Word of God for the People of God in Karawaci to Indonesia.”

Why do we put this emphasis on the Word of God? Where do we find the Word of God?

We believe the Bible, made up of the Old Testament written in Hebrew from about 1400 to about 400 B.C and the New Testament written in Greek in the first century A.D., is the Word of God. The Apostle Paul wrote about the “sacred writings” that “All Scripture is breathed out by God” (II Timothy 3:15-16). The Apostle Peter wrote about “Scripture” that “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (II Peter 1:20-21).

An angel from God spoke to Joseph to give him peace about the fact that his fiancé Mary was pregnant even though she had not had an intimate sexual relationship with Joseph or any other man. The child was a child of God miraculously conceived in the virgin Mary.

The angel then told Joseph: “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew went on to say: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).”

The Lord had spoken through the prophet. That is what we believe about all of the Bible. The Bible is “The Word of God for the People of God in Karawaci to Indonesia.”
