Caring for your Pet Companion

Pets deserve protection. They must be free of several things, including hunger and thirst, pain, injury, and disease; mistreatment, abuse, discomfort, fear, stress, and freedom to express their natural behavior. Having a good pet house that can protect your pet from the sun and rain is a must too.

You have to know that once you decided to have a pet, you have a commitment while they’re alive to take care of them. It’s not only about your time, but also you have to be ready to do all what is necessary to keep them well and healthy such as taking them to the veterinarian and provide for their vaccines, food and supplies to keep them clean.

And finally, you can’t just get rid your pet once they’re getting old or you’re bored of them!

Think wisely before you choose to have a pet.

TMD recommends that the pet owners in Lippo Village, especially dog owners, to take into consideration about the safety and comfort of other residents. Make sure that having a pet in your home does not interfere with other residents, especially when walking them around in the neighbourhood.

Remember to:
1) Use a leash for your dog as dogs often approach people they don’t know. A leash will allow the owner to control them.
2) Know your dog’s habits so you can train them to do the right thing.
3) Bring two paper bags or plastic in case for your dog poop. One bag for a container and one for coating your hands when you pick it up and placing it into the container. Remember that in a gram of dog’s/ cat’s faeces, there are more than twenty-three million parasites, viruses, bacteria, and disease.

TMD has issued several reminders to pet owners on how to take care of their pet companion. However, in recent months, we continue to receive complaints about dogs and cats running around in public areas and the handler seem to have lack of training or knowledge on how to handle the pets. Please remind your household staff or the handler about the town’s guidance on how to handle your pet properly.

Keep our environment clean and healthy. A responsible dog owner is a good neighbour!
