Post Image If you have left your house vacant for a long time, you might have checked its condition from time to time, but not routinely. In fact, some might only make an annual visit.

This can be a serious mistake with negative consequences to your vacant house:
• Moisture and damp can affect the walls. It can appear in different parts of the house due to bad weather and damage, stains and bad smells can also occur. If your house is exposed to wind and rain or if there are roof leaks, these will quickly damage your house.
• Cobwebs and dirt found everywhere. Decorative objects can begin to lose their sheen and show signs of abandonment.
• The paint may peel off, the wood get woodworm, and the bathrooms pipes can clog.
• It generates economic loses. You’re not going make any revenue, instead you still have to pay the tax and bills (IPKL). Expenses can pile up quickly!

What can you do? Instead of making your home unproductive, it’s better to rent it out! You can get an extra income and you can be assured that it doesn’t fall into neglect.

A vacant home can be a real problem for the neighbourhood too. TMD urges every owner of an unoccupied house to urgently take actions to keep it protected and in clean condition.

Here are some valuable tips:
• Have an automatic sensor of LED lightings in some areas, so the house and its surrounding won’t be dark at night and the security patrols can also immediately see there is anything unusual or suspicious.
• Cut and weed out grass and trim the trees around the lot. Don’t let the tree inside your property disturb your neighbour with the fallen leaves or even fallen branches during the hard rain.
• Close all the windows and doors of the house to prevent uninvited guests, pests (rats, snakes, mosquitoes) and unauthorized entry.
• Clean the house regularly, both inside and outside.
• Cover all areas that are visible from the outside. Close window coverings, blinds or curtains. Do not leave any openings that can be used as access into the house.

Your house is a valuable asset. Do your best to protect your property value.
