Post Image Do you have a property in Lippo Village but it is not being occupied?

It’s a pity to see an abandoned house, looking messy and disturbing the harmony of the surrounding neighbourhood. An empty house attracts unwanted occupants such as rats, snakes, mosquitoes. They can hide everywhere in unkempt grounds, unattended landscaping and wild growth of grass. Empty houses are dark due to lack of or no illumination at night, creating an unsafe and unsecured feeling for the neighbours.

If you own an unoccupied property in Lippo Village, you are responsible for keeping it in good order and good condition. It is only right and it is for your own benefit. Surely, a well maintained house even if empty can still be an attractive investment and property values are kept – not only for your property but your neighbor’s as well.

When your house no longer suits you, selling it is a popular option. But in some cases, turning it into a rental home might make more sense. It will be a good source of recurring income. If you still hold a mortgage on the property, renting your house will help you cover the payments and other expenses for upkeep. If you can afford to hold on to your property and rent it out, this will surely help fund your retirement years with a steady income. That makes for good investment sense!

Some brief tips on how to properly prepare your house for rent:
• Make the house livable by decluttering and removing any invaluable.
• Put a fresh layer or paint on the walls.
• Check/ replace/ fix anything that is broken.
• Check that all appliances are working.
• Clean the entire house and the area surrounding it within your property.

However, if you don’t want to rent or sell it but maintain it as an investment for future needs, TMD urges every owner of unoccupied house to take these actions:
• Cut and weed out grass and trim the trees around the lot.
• Clean the house regularly, both inside and outside.
• Close all the windows and doors of the house to prevent uninvited guests, pests and unauthorized entry.
• Cover all areas that are visible from the outside. Close window coverings, blinds or curtains. Do not leave any openings that can be used as access into the house.
• Have an automatic sensor of LED lightings in some areas, so the house and its surrounding won’t be dark at night and the security patrols can also immediately see there is anything unusual or suspicious.

We cannot stress enough that it is for your own benefit, to keep the value of your property secured.
