No Bypassing of Water Meter.

Post Image There have been some occasions when TMD is faced with issues concerning residents who managed to bypass the water meter.

Be a good citizen and follow these simple rules:

Once an application for water services connection is approved by TMD, there are binding clauses requiring special attention:
1) The end-user is required to keep and maintain the water meter once it is running.
2) The end-user has to settle any penalty charges determined by the provider along with any other form of penalties when it is found that the end-user takes the following actions:
• Breaking, opening and misplacing the water meter seal; or reversing the water meter.
• Using illegal water connection, such as getting water directly from distribution pipes and bypassing the water meter.
3) The provider has the right to decide the amount of penalty settlement to the end-user.

Hence, it is clear that maintaining and keeping the water meter running in the end-user’s unit is the end-user’s duty and responsibility. Taking water directly by bypassing the water meter are illegal actions, as it is:
• Breaching the agreement between the provider and end-users.
• Taking something not rightfully yours is an act of stealing and may be subject to prosecution.

If you want to reduce water costs, all you need to do is simply Conserve and Save.

And remember, you don’t have to wait for a drought to start saving water.

Implement some of these tips now and you will be able to conserve water while also saving money on utility bills!
