The Lippo Village Township was developed and built to have the best and superior infrastructure for the modern needs of its residents. One of the most important infrastructure in place is the water supply and distribution system providing quality and potable water to residents, both residential and commercial, from Lippo Village’s own Water Treatment Plant.
For those who are already connected with TMD’s water services, the use of groundwater for daily water consumption is not permitted. It is important for every resident to know and understand that taking groundwater as an alternative water source will have potential risks in the terms of water quality and environmental sustainability.
Know the consequences of using groundwater:
1) The use of groundwater does not guarantee that the quality of water used is better. TMD Water Services Department makes sure that the quality of water supply meets with the WHO’s Standard.
2) Groundwater can also be contaminated with the feses bacteria (E. coli) that are found in stools and cause diarrheal diseases like cholera.
3) In general, groundwater has a high content of ferrous iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mb), causing odor, yellowish color and taste in water.
4) A decrease in the quality of water received by residents is possible when mixing the water supply from the TMD with ground water. If a problem occurs, TMD is unable to provide help other than asking the resident to close the groundwater well and connect to TMD’s water services.
5) In some cases, TMD received the information about the cracked walls, shifting structures and; even sunken buildings. That can happen to the buildings located around the area that uses groundwater.
