Post Image It is soothing to plant and grow them, boosting our sense of well-being especially these days when we need to stay at home most times.

You’ve seen them as part of a centrepiece for home décor in interior design magazines and maybe spotted them all over Instagram. They have their own unique shape and colouring, and looks suitable to be an indoor centerpiece. Of course, you can also leave large arrangements outdoors to decorate the front of your home or patio.

Now, how can you grow healthy succulents?

Some often said that it’s easy to grow but, in fact, far from the truth. It’s a challenge to take care of it, especially for those who are not used to it.

Here’s some of the helpful tips for growing healthy succulents:

Choose the right pot
Use a pot that has a hole at the bottom for smooth drainage. It is necessary to ensure that the water comes out after watering and does not stagnate in the pot. Wet media cause a rot root. Pottery is good as water can also absorb through it pores.

Choose a planting medium that drains water
The needs of each type of succulent are different. Don’t use media that holds water for too long and make sure the humidity is low.

Time for watering
It’s depend on where you live and the local weather, as well as where you put it. Indoor succulent tend to require less watering than outdoor. You can water every one to two weeks. Just water when the media is completely dry.

Pay attention to the sun
Their natural habitat is in a dry area, however, it does not mean that they must be exposed to the sun continuously. Succulents grow best when they have adequate morning sun, and require 4 to 6 hours of exposure per day. Keep your plants away from the scorching heat of the day. Excess heat during the day can cause the succulent leaves to "burn" to a blackish stain.

Fertilize periodically for 1 to 2 months
The recommended fertilizer is usually NPK, with several compositions that you can choose from, depending on your needs. Give as much as 2 to 3 grains to each plant, not too much because it can cause overheating (excess heat) which damages the condition of the plant.

Happy planting ….
