Post Image Rainy conditions are expected to last a bit longer. During this raining period, driving can be a challenge especially during a heavy rain that can block visibility. This may cause some anxiety as such conditions requires the driver to take extra attention and focus. There is no room for carelessness. Remember you have a family waiting at home and best to slow down and not rush towards your destination.

Apart from using seat belts, obeying traffic regulations and maintaining a good driving distance, here are some tips on safe and comfortable driving in the rainy season:
  • Make sure the condition of the vehicle is good. Check whether the brakes are functioning properly, replace tires with good threads and thickness, make sure it has enough air pressure, also check rubber wipers and mirrors.
  • Check the combustion system, such as ECU, CDI, alternator, sparkplugs and cables, coils, batteries, distributors, air filters, carburetors, injectors and platinum. Do not let your vehicle breakdown in the rain.
  • Avoid deep water puddles, because you cannot see holes in the road that might make your car exhaust go under the surface.
  • Reduce your speed, take your foot off the gas pedal as much as you can and use the breaks earlier with less input than usual. Speeding when it rains could make the car fly off from its track.
  • If you have just passed a flooded area, dry the wet brakes by pressing the gas and brake pedals at the same time. Make sure the brakes are working properly before continuing the journey.
  • For motorists, do not use the air conditioner too cold. Car glass can bleed and interfere with your vision of the road.
  • Avoid using headlights when it’s raining, they make it difficult for you to see the road as the fog will be reflected by the light. Use your fog lamps instead to help you see the road.
  • Be cautious always, as the rain makes it hard for you to be aware of the situation ahead that needs quick judgment.
