Post Image Town Management Lippo Village (TMD) once again held the Christmas kick off with the theme Environmental Care and Sustainability in the Lippo Village area. This theme has always been the main message of TMD's environmental conservation goal.

Lippo Village is committed to encouraging residents and visitors to be aware of the earth’s condition which is full of plastic waste.  One should recycle their plastic waste independently for all needs, explained Alwi Sjaaf, CEO Lippo Village, whom we met after the kick off Christmas event on Thursday, December 6.

Reflecting on the mission, said Alwi, from the beginning of the kick off of Christmas four years ago, as a green city, TMD tries to collect used plastic cups to be used as Christmas tree decorations. Of the 25,000 recycled plastic cups collected in 2017 and it has now risen to around 26,000 in 2018.

We know that the environmental push still encounter difficulties in recycling waste, especially plastic waste. Unfortunately, there are still many people who cannot control themselves in reducing the use of plastic packaging. Therefore, we actively give a sample how to recycle our plastic waste into something useful. Hopefully next year we can collect up to 100,000 plastic cups, he explained.

These recycled plastic cups in created to be large balls resembles the shape of the earth. Then, given the classic colors of Christmas, green and red, just suited with the title of this year's Classical Christmas and Year End Celebration. The decoration is successfully decorated inside the giant 12 meter Christmas tree.

In addition to the message of environmental preservation that continues to be campaigned, Christmas in Lippo Village this year also reminds of the spirit and warmth between religions. During this event, TMD also organized some performances that could be enjoyed by the public.  Those involved were Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH), Sekolah Dian Harapan (SDH), Hypermart, Imperial Klub Golf, Aryaduta & Country Club Lippo Village, Lippo General Insurance, Menara Matahari, Books & Beyond, Coco Day and others. There was a Santa coming down from Menara Matahari which attracted many people to watch it at roundabout Menara Matahari.

Whilst preserving the environment sustainability, together we can appreciate what God has given us. We want to make this city as a liveable city, bringing the joy that can be enjoyed by all residents and visitors, Alwi said.
