The 73rd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was celebrated in Lippo Village with much national pride with most institutions participating in the Independence Day Parade, the 4th time held in the town and gathering more than 3,000 participants in a city-wide parade last August 16th.
The Annual Parade which started in 2015 has become a tradition and much sought after event by residents, students, teachers, offices and their workforce to show their love for country. In keeping with the tradition, offices, buildings, schools, storefronts and roads were festooned with the red and white color of Indonesia couple of weeks leading up to Independence Day. Red and white lights in the evening were used to decorate the streets and many corners of the city. Each institution in the city held their own festivities culminating on August 16th, when participating institution paraded floats and came out in traditional dress from various regions of Indonesian. Such colour and splendour are hardly seen anywhere but here at Lippo Village, we were happy to see the theme of “Maintaining Diversity” carried out during the entire parade.
The participants included members of the various subsidiaries of Lippo Group, supported by the many communities and residents in Lippo Village. Participants created their own dance, songs and cheered slogans of ther choice all in keeping with the theme. Floats were beautifully adorned and showcased art and culture of the different regionsl
This year, the Parade took us from the Maxx Box to Maxx Corner, Lippo Village where performances were held. Alwi Sjaaf, CEO of Lippo Village expressed his appreciation, “In the fourth year of organizing this Parade, I saw enthusiasm greatly improved, both from the participants and the audience. More and more attendees were present and the appearance of each team
was even more creative and vibrant. Seeing various traditional clothes and cultural attractions displayed, it really fosters a sense of pride and unity as an Indonesian nation.”
Well said, indeed, year after year, more attendees participated and the community gets more involved to carry out what has become an annual tradition in Lippo Village. It is our hope that this sense of national pride continues amongst all members of the Lippo Village community and that our duty as citizens in maintaining and caring for Indonesia’s diversity lives on in each of us, our family members and our community as a whole.
Thank you to all community members for taking part in our Independence Day Parade and for being the pride of our city and our beloved nation, Indonesia.
